West Coast Tug & Barge Ltd has been providing marine transportation services to the BC Coast since its inception date in 1976. With almost 50 years on the BC Coast, the company’s success can be accredited to strong fiscal responsibility and unwavering customer service. Founded by past-President, Thomas Olsen, the company originally consisted of a single wooden tug focussing on the forest sector’s log towing market in our local Johnstone Strait area. Now the company expanded its service offerings to realign with all industries on the coast, and has four Transport Canada Certified steel tugs and four steel barges ranging in capacity to take on any job big-or-small. Its operating area is coastal British Columbia – and occasionally travels into the United States (Pugent Sound and Alaska). The company remains privately held by the Olsen family, and for the last decade has been owned and operated by the next generation, brothers Lukas and Layne.
Our Fleet
West Coast Tug & Barge Ltd has significantly expanded its fleet to meet the evolving demands of marine transportation. Presently, the fleet comprises four Transport Canada Certified steel tugs and four steel barges, each tailored to handle diverse tasks. Ranging in capacity, these vessels offer the flexibility needed to undertake projects of any scale, addressing the varied needs of industries along the BC Coast.
